Based on the first-level disciplines of Chemical Engineering and Technology, meeting the needs of economic development for Shanghai and China, and focusing on the fields of new energy (energy conservation, environmental protection, and public health), the School has developed pioneering research programs such as the Preparation and Application of Chemical Functional (Polymer) Materials, Compound Design and Synthesis, Chemical Crystallization Separation, and Environmental Purification Technology. Many achievements from Intelligent Preparation, New Material of Silicon Carbide, and Application are at the advanced domestic level and have impacted related industries and achieved enormous economic benefits. More than 200 scientific research projects have been managed and completed in the past five years, including 20 from the National Natural Science Foundation. Nearly 600 SCI papers have been published, and over 70 invention patents have been authorized. Awards have also been granted for three-second prizes and one-third prize for the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, and one-third prize for the Shanghai Technology Invention Award.
