On January 10, 2022, the inauguration ceremony of the Joint Research Lab of Environment and Chemical Processes Integration and Optimization, jointly built by our school and the University of Manchester, was successfully held. Vice President Xia Chunming, Director Wang Qin, Deputy Director Xiao Qian, Director Li Cong of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Deputy Director Li Jun of the Scientific Research Office, Deputy Director Zhao Tao of the Assets Office, Dean Rao Pinhua, Deputy Director Lu Jie of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Dean, Professor Li Guanghui of the Environment and Resources Innovation Center and his team members attended the listing ceremony on the spot. Professor Zhang Nan from the University of Manchester participated online. The meeting was chaired by Director Wang Qin.
At the listing ceremony, Professor Li Guanghui, director of the joint laboratory, introduced the basic situation of the team, and contacted Professor Zhang Nan on the spot. The two sides expressed that they would continue to cooperate closely, give full play to their respective advantages, and jointly promote the development of the discipline. Then Dean Rao Pinhua introduced the development goals of the joint laboratory, hoping that the joint laboratory would speed up the output of results and live up to the school's expectations. Finally, Vice President Xia Chunming made a concluding speech from several aspects, including the significance of international cooperation, the school's international development strategy, and the plans and suggestions for international cooperation in production, education and research. President Xia fully affirmed the achievements of the joint laboratory in the past year, and hoped that the teachers and students of our school will cherish the opportunity of cooperation with world-renowned universities and make persistent efforts to make positive contributions to the international development of the school and the construction of a modern engineering application-oriented university.
Afterwards, the participating leaders visited the laboratory of the Environment and Resources Innovation Center under the leadership of Professor Li Guanghui. Finally, Vice President Xia Chunming and Professor Li Guanghui jointly unveiled the International Joint Laboratory.
The University of Manchester is a world-renowned top institution of higher learning, and its research and applications in the field of process integration are at the international leading level. The joint laboratory builds a research and teaching cooperation platform with a high starting point and high standard by introducing a high-end expert team from the Process Integration Center of the University of Manchester. Based on the good cooperation foundation of the two parties, the joint laboratory has become the first project supported by our school since the implementation of the International Cooperation Research Platform Foreign Expert Team Plan in 2021.
