In the afternoon of April 21, the inauguration ceremony and the first academic committee meeting of our first key laboratory in petrochemical industry, the Key Laboratory of Silicon Carbide Ceramic Membrane in Petroleum and Chemical Industry, were held in Songjiang Campus. The director of the academic committee, academician Shi Jianlin from Shanghai Institute of Silicate, Chinese Academy of Sciences; our president, Professor Yu Tao and vice president, Professor Wang Yansong; the director of equipment and innovation system construction department of Petrochemical Federation, Wang Yimin, and the director of science and technology reward and achievement management department of Petrochemical Federation, Duan Yonghong; the deputy director of the academic committee, Professor He Danong from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Professor Qiu Jieshan from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, academic committee members Prof. Qian Xuefeng of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Prof. Yu Shui of Tongji University, Prof. Xue Gang of Donghua University, Prof. Liu Faqiang of PetroChina Lanzhou Chemical Research Center, Prof. Fang Shunong of Shanghai Xinyang Semiconductor Materials Co. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Wang Yansong, Vice President.
President Yu Tao, on behalf of the university, welcomed the guests and expressed his gratitude to the expert leaders and enterprises and institutions that gave great support during the preparation of the key laboratory in petroleum and chemical industry. He pointed out that the university attaches great importance to the introduction of high-level talents and platform construction work, and the approval of the key laboratory is the recognition of the industry to the university and to the team. We hope that the laboratory will live up to the expectations and make more positive contributions to the university and the industry. On behalf of the petrochemical federation, Director Wang Yimin delivered a speech and congratulated the official launch of the key laboratory, saying that the silicon carbide ceramic membrane can treat wastewater with strong acidity, strong alkalinity, high corrosiveness, strong oxidation and other "extreme conditions", which has good application prospects. I hope the key laboratory will achieve better results and move to a higher stage with the support of the university.
Director Wang Yimin and Director Xie Hong inaugurated the key laboratory. President Yu Tao awarded the appointment letters to the key lab committee members: Shi Jianlin, He Danong, Qiu Jieshan, Qian Xuefeng, Yu Ruihui, Xue Gang, Liu Faqiang, Fang Shunong, Zhu Jun, Xie Hong and Wang Jinguo. On behalf of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, President Wang Jinguo made a statement, saying that the College will continue to make efforts in the introduction of talents, performance assessment, scientific research, graduate student enrollment, and transformation of results to further enhance the sustainable development capability and comprehensive competitiveness of the Key Laboratory, and build the Key Laboratory into a distinctive academic and technical exchange service platform with outstanding original achievements, leading domestic and first-class industry.
After the inauguration ceremony, academician Shi Jianlin hosted the first meeting of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory. Professor Li Guanghui, director of the laboratory, reported the development history, main performance during the construction period and development plan of the key laboratory to the experts present. The experts at the meeting fully affirmed the achievements of the laboratory and hoped that the laboratory would take today's inauguration ceremony as a brand new starting point, aim at the national development strategy and major local needs with the strong support of the university and the college, and make positive contributions to the petrochemical industry in terms of pollution reduction and green low-carbon development in accordance with the assessment requirements of the Petrochemical Federation. The experts also made suggestions for the next development of the laboratory from various perspectives.

The Key Laboratory of Silicon Carbide Ceramic Membrane in Petroleum and Chemical Industry was formally approved in November 2022, marking a major breakthrough in the construction of innovation platform in petroleum and chemical industry, and a leading position in the industry in the field of high performance ceramic membrane technology.
